It's a royal tradition to be buried in a lead lined coffin. It was rumoured the coffin weighed 50 stone, which is 14x50pounds or 700lbs. The 8 Welsh guards who carried it have subsequently commented how heavy it was and difficult to carry. Such a coffin is kept on standby in case a member of the royal family dies.
